A quiet self-check

Is this you?

Before you book a conversation, see whether this is the pattern you are actually carrying.

You may not need a bigger vocabulary list, another app, or more grammar exercises.

You may need to understand why the English you already have becomes harder to reach when someone is waiting for your answer.

You may recognise this pattern

Tap the lines that sound like you.

  • You are articulate on paper, but less available in fast spoken English.
  • You understand the meeting until the conversation takes a turn you had not rehearsed.
  • A word you have used a thousand times disappears when the room is waiting.
  • You translate silently before you speak, then correct yourself mid-sentence.
  • You hear the mistake more clearly than the thought you were trying to express.
  • You replay the conversation afterwards and grade yourself harshly.
  • The numbers say you are fluent. You do not feel fluent.

If three or more of these felt familiar, that is the pattern this work is built around. It does not mean your English is weaker than the numbers say. It means the problem is somewhere the usual courses never look.

What this usually means

It does not mean you are a beginner. It does not mean you are lazy, unintelligent, or secretly bad at English.

It usually means the speaking moment has become loaded. Anxiety, self-monitoring, memory pressure, perfectionism, and the need to sound like yourself all arrive at the same time. The language is there, but the inner space to use it has narrowed.

That is the work of Speaking English With Confidence: not adding more language for its own sake, but helping you use the English you already have when it matters.

Start with the free How You Learn lessons and resources. They show the kind of thinking behind the coaching.

There is also a middle step: Speak Like You Mean Business, a £49 self-study pack for building the daily speaking habit on your own, before or instead of coaching.

The next step, if it fits

If the pattern feels familiar and you want to talk it through, book a 15-minute conversation. No pressure, no sales pitch. We will look at what is happening when you speak, what you want to change, and whether this work is the right fit.
